Hello divas and welcome to Friday and happy August! I can’t believe another week has come and gone but it has. All in all, it wasn’t too bad a week for me here in Tennessee as the weather has been wonderful. It is Friday which means it is another edition of 5 things Friday here at Divas Run for Bling. Since it is the first day of August, I thought this would be a great time for my month in review series. So today I am sharing 5 Things that Happened in July.
Recovered from Fitbloggin. The month started off with my reviewing my experiences at Fitbloggin and recovering from that busy weekend. I posted about how great the workouts were, my favorite recipe of the weekend (the Blueberry Avocado muffins), and the goal I set for myself to hold myself accountable (NO MORE EXCUSES!). I also started putting money aside each paycheck so that I can be sure to make it to Denver next year.
4th of July. Also at the beginning of the month, was the 4th of July holiday. I wish that I could say I did something really cool, but honestly I just stayed and relaxed at home all weekend. My husband works from home so he was actually on the phone a lot of the weekend but we did have our own barbeque of yummy, healthy grilled meat and veggies.
Started FocusT25. One of the things that I got to experience at Fitbloggin last month was my first Insanity workout. So about the middle of the month or so (I am in week 3 as I write this), I started the FocusT25 program that is with the same fitness guru Shaun T. I LOVE it so far. Each workout is only 25 minutes and after only a couple of weeks, I can already tell a difference in my strength and endurance (I can actually do a few burpees now). Stay tuned for more updates and I go through this 10 week program.
Half marathon training. I also FINALLY got signed up for my first half marathon of the fall season this month. I will be running the Divas Half Marathon on Sept. 6th in Peachtree City, GA (very close to Atlanta). Which means this month I also started my training back up. I will have to say that so far it has been so-so. I have been doing a bit of running but nothing big so far (I will be doing 5 miles for my long run this week). But with the addition of T25 to my training regimen, I will hopefully still be faster than I was back in the spring when I walked practically both my halfs. The goal is just to finish this one and have my base fitness level set so that I can try for my sub-3 hour half marathon time for one of my 3-4 halfs I have planned for later this fall.
Wedding anniversary. Lastly, this month the hubby and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. We had our wedding reception at the local minor league baseball game so each year for our anniversary we try to go back and watch some of America’s pastime. It turned out be be beautiful weather and we had fun eating our favorite ballpark foods (I had chicken fingers and beer).
