Hello divas! I hope that you are having a great week so far. It has been so hot here in Tennessee this week and I have been recovering from last week’s trip to Chicago. But overall not too bad. One thing I have been trying to focus on this week in particular is eating at home as this is the week between 2 trips – Chicago last week and Nashville next week. The hubby and I are both runners so we love our carbs and pasta is probably one of my favorite go-to dinners as it’s easy and quick to make. I have also been trying to eat clean this year which has led me to find new ways to prepare many of my favorite foods at home so I can avoid some of the processed stuff. Which has led me to today’s easy healthy recipe – my homemade crockpot marinara sauce.
If you read this blog, you know that I love my crockpot. Any excuse to use it and I will do so. I can prepare everything in the morning and let it cook while I am at work all day. This recipe is super easy. All you do is take all the ingredients and put them in the crockpot and cook for 6-8 hours.
When I arrived home from work, I cooked some pasta, added the sauce and some mozzarella cheese and I have an easy, homemade meal.
This recipe is also customizable. You can add or take out ingredients as needed. I typically prefer just a basic marinara sauce with my pasta. But you can add some meat or veggies to it if you like. Also, this sauce can be used as a base for lots of different recipes – including using veggies such as spaghetti squash instead of pasta for a low-carb option.
