Hello divas! I hope that had a fabulous holiday weekend and are looking forward to another fun filled week ahead. Mine was a little busy and a little laid back as I am still nursing an injured ankle. But it was fun and I got to spend some time with family so that made it all worthwhile. But now the holiday season is in full swing. It’s getting closer and closer to Christmas so I have been busy baking, shopping and listening to Christmas music. Now ya’ll know how much I love my protein smoothies. So I thought I would share another easy healthy recipe just in time for the season – my eggnog protein smoothie.
I love protein smoothies (be sure to check out my easy healthy recipes for smoothie ideas). They are such a versatile food. You can have one for an on-the-go snack, a meal replacement and, of course, as a post-workout recovery snack. They are also super easy to make. You basically just take whatever you have in your refrigerator and pantry and throw them in the blender for a yummy drink.
This particular smoothie is just for the holiday season. I will be the first to tell you that I am not a huge fan of eggnog, but my hubby is and he requested that I make a recipe for after his runs over the holiday season. For the purpose of this recipe, I used low-fat eggnog though you can use the non-dairy version if you are not a dairy person. I also used a sweet spice blend but pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon and nutmeg do the same job. For my protein powder, I opted for my vanilla Shakeology. It not only tastes good in this recipe but also is jammed packed with all my daily vitamins and nutrients.
