It’s weeks like this that I kind of wish I was a gym member. My husband and I gave up our gym membership to save money last year. We didn’t go as often as we should as we spent a large amount of our exercise time running outside. This is fine for most of the year. But with the cold this week, I was left thinking how nice it would have been to get my run in even if it had to be on a treadmill.
I have no desire whatsoever to move up north in the winter. So Monday and Tuesday it was frigid. Like single digits frigid. And I live in Tennessee. Needless to say I did not make it out the door to run in that kind of weather. Way too cold for this southern girl. Which made me realize that I would never make it living up north or in the midwest that deals with temperatures that get that low from time to time. It’s just not gonna happen.
I wish I had more money. I know that most everyone says that from time to time. But this week I was left wishing I had more money. Because if I had more money, I would be able to be at Disney World for Marathon weekend this week. Then the Tinkerbell at Disneyland next weekend. Then the Princess in February. You get the picture. Oh well. At least there are some race relatively close that will be fun to run this year.
Compression gear is essential for me to run. I have been wearing compression socks or sleeves on my legs since last summer to help prevent shin splints and achilles issues. I decided that since I was only running 2 miles on Wednesday, I would skip wearing them. Bad idea. I have had sore calves ever since that I have been stretching and rolling.
Staying away from fast food is easier than I thought. So I am taking part in the Make a Change Challenge and my diet change for January is to give up fast food and cook more at home. It is healthier this way and hopefully it will jumpstart my weight loss for this year. It has been quite easy so far I have to say. Thank goodness for Pinterest, though. It’s a fabulous place to find new recipes.
