Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have had a fabulous week so far. As with all Fridays, it is time to share the five things I learned this week.
I am in better shape than I thought. As you have probably seen by now, I ran the Hot Chocolate 15K Atlanta race on Sunday. While my time was slower than I would have liked, I was able to finish faster than I have ever ran a race over a 10K at about 15:22/mile. So while I was not where I wanted to be, I was in better shape than I thought. If you haven’t already, check out the race recap.
Race expos are awesome. I love it when the larger races have expos. Not only do you get to pick up your race goodies and bibs, but there is shopping. I picked up a pair of Newton Running Lady Isaac running shoes for an amazing price. I was also able to pick up an adorable running skirt/pants combo from Skirt Sports and a RooSport pocket. Not that I needed more gear, but it was great to see what was out there and I plan on reviewing my new gear soon so keep a lookout for them.
Southerners freak out when the elusive white stuff shows up. So if you haven’t heard yet, the southeastern U.S. had snow this week. Real, live snow. Here in Chattanooga, TN, we only got an inch or so. But it was enough to cause mass chaos when the city shut down. It took me 5 hours to get home on Tuesday! And that was with me parking my car 1/2 mile away from the house and walking home. Part of the problem was that the city, schools and government all shut down AT THE SAME TIME, causing traffic jams. Oh and then you have the southern drivers who have no clue how to drive on a normal day, much less when snow arrives. I was so glad I was able to get home at all.
Snow days are awesome. With the snow also came a snow day on Wednesday. I got to sleep late, get a head on a little blogging and make some homemade snowcream. See the recipe here. I was so thankful that we had power, food and heat so I could look out my window and enjoy the view.
Heading back to work after said snow day is not fun. Following my snow day on Wednesday, we had a 2 hour delay before returning to work on Thursday. Which was great as I got to sleep in and my hubby went to Dunkin Donuts to pick me up some breakfast. Not so great was the snow still in the parking lot at work and the amount of items on my to do list that seemed to pop up while the campus was closed. Go figure.
