Hello divas! I hope your week is going well and that you are super thrilled for another fun-filled weekend. I am excited to be taking my dad to a college football game (GO UTC MOCS) this weekend for a little father/daughter time (you’re never too old lol) which should be great fun. So as you know I have been on my health and fitness journey for a while now. It is the whole reason I started this blog – to help hold myself accountable and to share what I learn as I continue on the journey. But I think sometimes we focus on what we lose when we start our health and fitness journey – weight, inches, dress sizes. We don’t always see how it changes us for the better. So today instead of talking about what you lose when you take up a fitness routine, I am sharing 4 things I’ve gained through fitness.
Better health. Of course the biggest thing I’ve gained through fitness is better health – both physical and emotional. My blood pressure is now under control, weight is (slowly) coming off and I don’t have as many mood swings. And I am happier (serotonin is a good thing 🙂 ).
Self-confidence. Running and fitness have given me self-confidence. I look at myself differently and have overcome obstacles along the way – whether injuries, setbacks or just trying to conquer my next goal. I know that there is nothing I can’t overcome. I also know that there is nothing I can’t achieve.
Fabulous friends. I have met so many new and fabulous people during my journey so far. It’s so great to be a able to hear and share others’ journeys because there is always something that I can learn to do better or differently. And these fabulous friends understand what I am struggling with or just how big a deal a milestone is. I feel like there is a place to belong.
New experience and new places. Let’s face it. Runners do cool stuff. I mean what other sport allows you to travel just about anywhere in the world, run through sports stadiums from baseball to football, stop for photo ops with Disney characters, take a quick break to ride a roller coaster (probably the ONLY way you will EVER get me to run a marathon) and dress up like it’s Halloween in the middle of August, experience Vegas at night and run through historical sites?
