Hello divas! I hope that you are having a great start to the holiday weekend. I am super thrilled that I am off of work today so I can enjoy the holiday. It’s going to be a busy Thanksgiving followed by what I hope will be a productive shopping weekend. I have been making my holiday wish list to give to family members and thought I would share a few of my favorite things that will help the loved ones on your list get fit in 2016.
Fitbit Charge HR. This year I am finally getting on the Fitbit bandwagon. Since I do more workouts than just running, I need something that I can track my activities and heart rate without strapping on the chest based heart rate monitor – the Fitbit Charge HR has a wrist based monitor and it will track more than just workouts. It also can track my steps, daily active time and my sleep. Take another step in the right direction by adding Fitbit to your fitness routine.
Reebok Crossfit 5 Cross Training Shoes. Reebok Crossfit shoes are my go-to for my cross training workouts. The Reebok Nano 5.0 are lightweight and handle all the jumps, turns, squats, lunges and agility work that I do with my different activities.
Fitness Programs to do at home. If you read my blog, you know that I love my at-home workouts. And I am a big fan of Beachbody programs in particular. They have done so much to help me on my health and fitness journey and to get into some of the best shape of my life (which is why I became a coach). There is a program for anyone of any fitness level and one that suits whatever interest you have in fitness – interval training, dance, pilates & yoga, strength training, you name it. In particular, I have been working with the 21 Day Fix and 21 Day Fix Extreme and have loved them. I am super excited about the new Hammer & Chisel program (available Dec. 1st). This is a combination program that will help you both build muscles and chisel out a fit physique (or in my case, lose some fat to be able to see the muscles). Feel free to contact me about any questions about Beachbody programs.
Yoga/Exercise Mat. This year I need a new yoga/exercise mat such as this Sivan Health and Fitness® 1/2-InchExtra Thick 71-Inch Long NBR Comfort Foam Yoga Mat for Exercise, Yoga, and Pilates (Pink). I have just used mine until it is almost falling apart. Because I don’t JUST do yoga, I want one that will work for both yoga, but also for floor based core work as well as floor based exercises (such as push ups). So I want one that is extra thick, extra long and will be comfy on my hard floors.
Stablility Ball. You can never go wrong with a Exercise and Stability Ball. Not only can you use it for core work, it works as a modification if you are short on space but still need a weigh bench for strength training.
Dumbbells. Strength training is so important to any fitness regimen. There are so many benefits, including the fact that muscles burn fat faster than fat does. It also can help improve you other fitness activities such as running. I have been using lighter ones this year and so I am hoping to push myself a bit with a pair of 12 lb. Dumbbells
Resistance Bands. Like dumbbells, Resistance Bands
are great for strength training and chiseling out an athletic physique. I also like to use the resistance bands anytime a workout calls for pull ups. I just don’t have the upper body strength to do a pull up yet.
Sports Bras. Lastly, all you ladies know how important a good sports bra is, especially if you are on the well endowed side like I am. The best sports bra I have found this year for high impact activities has been my Enell Sports Bra. These are made specifically for ladies with a C cup or bigger and have made my workouts so much more enjoyable.
Recovery. An important part of any fitness program is proper preperations, hydration and recovery. The Beachbody Performance Line is fantastic for this. It contains a pre-workout drink to help you perform better, a Hydration drink to keep you going, a post workout recovery shake to replenish what was lost in your workout and a nighttime repair shake that continues to repair your muscles as you sleep as well as help prevent muscle soreness.
