Hello divas! I hope that you had a fantastic weekend and have big plans for the week ahead. As you probably know, later on this week is Earth Day. It is a time to celebrate our earth and start to focus on ways to be more environmentally responsible. I am a big believer is trying to live as “green” as possible. But we all know that sometimes it can be hard to go green and it can cost some money that we may or may not have. So today I thought I would share some easy ways to go green without spending a lot of cash.
Eat clean. As you know I have been trying to eat clean this year. This is so important in trying to go green because you are eating the freshest, healthiest food possible without all the extra preservatives and processing. As a rule of thumb, I try to eat local first, organic second (when I can afford to) then conventional foods. Also, eat at home as much as you can. Not only is it cheaper, but it is also more environmentally friendly.
Use what you have. If you are anything like me, you have too much stuff. Take stock of what you have before spending money on something you may or may not need. While you are at it, clean out your shelves and closets and donate or give away of some of the stuff you don’t use.
Recycle. This is a super easy and free choice in trying to go greener in your life. I am lucky to have curbside pick up of my recycling at my house, but it doesn’t take that much longer to sort your paper, glass, cardboard and other recyclables.
Walk. Or run. Or bike. Or even take the subway. You don’t always have to use the car to get to where you are going. Finding alternative ways of getting from point A to point B will help reduce pollution and the need for gasoline.
Be aware of energy vampires. Did you know that some of your appliances and electronics drain energy even when they are not even on? A simple fix is to unplug before you leave the house. This will save some energy costs for sure.
