Hello divas! I hope that you are having a fabulous week so far. It’s been pretty good here in Tennessee this week. A bit rainy and some arctic weather coming this weekend, but not too bad. The holiday season is in full swing – complete with parties, shopping and travel. My hubby and I are lucky that our families live relatively close so we don’t have to travel far to celebrate either Thanksgiving or Christmas. But one thing that I have struggled with the last couple of years is finding time and motivation to workout during this busy time and when I am away from home. So today I am sharing 5 tips to workout during holiday travels.
Have a plan. One of the best tips to get your workouts in over the holidays is to have a plan before you go. Are you going to be somewhere where you can run outdoors or will you need to plan an indoor workout? If you have an idea of what you are going to do ahead of time, you will be more likely to actually complete the workouts. One thing that I love is my Beachbody On Demand. It allows me to take any of my Beachbody workouts with me wherever I go as long as I have an internet connection so I can still get my sweat on no matter the weather or my location.
Plan your routes. Related to #1 above, this is important if you plan on running or biking while you are gone. Do some research and plan the best routes to take. Will you be in a safe neighborhood or will there be a park of some sort that you can go to?
Pack Accordingly. This seems obvious but it is important to mention. You will want to pack everything you will need to workout. What will the weather be like? Is there access to any gels, water, sports drinks, etc. if you are doing a long run or bike ride? Will you be inside or outside? Will you run in the dark? These are all things that need to be considered.
Workout with others. This is another way to stay motivated. If you are visiting family, ask if any of them want to join you. It will be a great way to get a way from the chaos of the holidays for a bit.
Relax and enjoy the holidays. Most important is to relax and enjoy the holidays. You will not be able to be perfect in your training most likely and that’s okay. A week or two off your schedule won’t hurt your training too much and every little bit that you can work in will help in the long run.Are you traveling over the holidays?
