Disclosure: I received a free six-month trial of MyYogaWorks in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Hello divas! I hope that your weekend is going well so far. I am having at blast at Fitbloggin’ and can’t wait to come home and share what I learned while in Savannah with all of you.
I was contacted recently by Lindsay at MyYogaWorks offering to give me a free six-month trial in return for an honest review. I used to do yoga about 4 days a week, but have gotten out of practice since taking up running about two years ago. Which is a shame because I really loved how yoga made me feel. So this opportunity was a perfect way for me to add some yoga to my exercise regimen.
MyYogaWorks is a site where you can stream over 500 different yoga video workouts directly to your phone, tablet, computer or any other device where there is a connection to the internet. This is great because it means you can take your yoga practice anywhere you want. You will get unlimited access to all of these workouts with new ones posted each week.
The videos on the site can be searched using all kinds of criteria. You can search by ability level – beginner, intermediate or advanced. There is also the option to search by how long you have to do a workout. There is also a way to search by what area you want to focus on. Do you need a core workout? There are several of different levels and times. Is it a lower body day? You can search to find those that focus on your legs. Are you trying to work on your inversions? You can focus on routines that will help build that strength. Being able to sort the routines like this allows you to tailor your practice to you own needs and wants. You can even start a list of your favorite routines so you can go back and do them again and again.
My favorite part of this site is the journey series. There are 28 journeys to choose from, each with yoga routines that will help you get to where you want. You can learn the basics of yoga in the Yoga 101 series or, if you are more advanced, work your way to a headstand or a flying pigeon. There are prenatal workouts for expectant mothers, postnatal routines for new mothers and nap time yoga for moms. You can learn about the Chakras, meditation or partner yoga as well.
I haven’t had a chance to do very many videos yet, but so far I really loved the two series designed for athletes – the Yoga for Athletes and the Yoga for Runners. While I will admit I love some power yoga from time to time and core work is always needed, I will be using the workouts in these two series the most. These routines are tailored specifically to those like myself who want to stretch out those muscles after a run or strengthen the core or legs to make my running better. I particularly love the Runner’s Legs workout in the Yoga for Runners series. It is short (about 25 minutes) and really stretches those legs following a run.
