Hello divas! I hope that you are having a great week so far and are getting ready for another fun filled week ahead. Mine has been pretty good, though busy. I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home.
The weather here in Tennessee has been fantastic for the most part. Which means that I have been able to get the grill out and do some outdoor cooking (which I LOVE this time of year). There is just something about the smell of a charcoal grill in the spring and summer.
Which is why I am so thrilled to be working with Hebrew National® franks, Hunt’s® Ketchup, and Gulden’s® Mustard to bring you a fun new recipe for your grill that will be perfect for your Memorial Day get togethers – my peach bourbon bbq hot dog sliders.
I love a good excuse to fire up the grill. I also am from a military family so Memorial Day always includes a grill out celebration to enjoy the holiday and remember the fallen. With my family, this also means having to prepare food for what can sometimes be a small army. So I am always trying to figure both fun and unique ways to use traditional grilling recipes to keep the meals fresh and yummy. Which is why I love the idea of these sliders.
This recipe is perfect for both a small grill out and a large holiday party. They are easy to prepare, easy to hold as you are mingling and, when paired with fresh veggies, can still be part of a healthy diet. I am also a southern girl born and raised so I love an excuse to use fresh peaches and bourbon together in a recipe – in this case a homemade bbq sauce for the sliders.
To begin cooking my sliders, I started off with a trip to my local Walmart to pick up everything. I picked up some dinner rolls (you can also use slider buns if you can find them) on the bread aisle first. Then I head to to hotdogs to grab my Hebrew National Franks. Lastly, I hit the condiment aisle to grab my Hunt’s Ketchup for the bbq sauce and some Gulden’s Mustard (I love the spicy variety!). Then it was back to the house to fire up the grill.
While the charcoal was burning, I gathered everything I would need for my sliders. I went ahead an sliced the dinner rolls in half to make a bun for the hot dogs (you can skip this step if you have slider buns). I also got my veggies ready to roast and bake for my side dishes. Once the charcoal was ready, I put the Hebrew National Franks on the grill to cook.
While they were cooking, I prepared the bbq sauce. I started off with some onions, garlic, balsamic vinegar, Hunt’s Ketchup and bourbon in a mixing bowl. I mixed them together until well blended. Next came the peaches and brown sugar which were mixed in. Finally, I added some spices and a bit of hot sauce for a little smoky flavor to the mixture. I set the sauce aside in the fridge until ready to go on the slides.
Once the Hebrew National Franks were done, I sliced them in half both long ways and horizontally. This gave me the slices to put onto the buns. I topped the Franks with the bbq sauce and some Gulden’s Mustard. And they are ready to serve with whatever side dishes you choose. I personally love some baked sweet potato fries and grilled vegetable kabobs as options to serve with the sliders.#ad msg 4 21+ Try these peach bourbon bbq @HebrewNational hot dog sliders @walmart #summerservedClick To Tweet
