Hello divas! I hope that your week is going well so far. As we speak, I am on my way to Denver for the Fitbloggin conference (be sure to follow along on my social media channels!) which I am super excited about. I am also excited to share another fun summer easy healthy recipe just in time for the upcoming 4th of July holiday – my peach mango iced tea.
I will be the first to tell you I am a southern girl born and raised. And as such, I grew up with iced tea. And not just any iced tea, but my grandmother’s iced tea which was slowly brewed over the stove and loaded down with sugar. I remember how no matter when I showed up for a visit, there was always a gallon of her iced tea waiting in the refrigerator. I don’t think there has ever been a singly holiday with my family where iced tea was not being served.
My husband is a northerner born and raised. And as such he just doesn’t understand why I have a love and a connection with my grandmother’s iced tea. It’s about more than the drink and more about the memories I have shared over the years over a tall glass of iced tea. So I decided to make my own version of my grandmother’s iced tea. I chose, however, to use honey instead of sugar and to add some fresh peaches and mango to it.
For my tea, I used Bigelow Tea American Blend Black Tea. Bigelow Tea is 100% American made by an American Family and is available at an American Retailer – Walmart. Bigelow Tea’s Charleston Tea Plantation is America’s largest working tea garden where guests are invited to the for weddings, tours and even a variety of music festivals. It’s a tea-riffic way to experience historic Southern culture and a living piece of American history! And even better is the fact that almost 4 million bags of tea have been sent to troops overseas with Bigelow’s Tea for Troops program.
This tea is super easy to make as well. You simply bring 4 cups of water to a boil then seep 5 tea bags for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, you will need to peel and chop your peaches and mangos and add them to the bottom of a glass pitcher. Once the tea is done, pour over the fruit, add the honey and finish filling the pitcher with cold water. Refrigerate until ready to drink and serve. You have a delicious glass of iced tea to enjoy with your family.
