Hi divas and happy Tuesday! I know it’s early but I hope that your week is going well so far. Mine has been a little stressful so far but I’m surviving. I have some big news that I am so excited to share with all of you today.
I was contacted last week by Women’s Running magazine to be a Women’s Running Runspirational in Nashville the end of September. I will be blogging throughout the next 6 weeks about my training for the race, from the expo and a race recap after I’m done.
This race wasn’t originally on my calendar for this fall. I have been saving for the trip to Vegas to run the Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon in November so I couldn’t justify another weekend away from home. However, when this opportunity came up, I couldn’t pass on it. I love the city of Nashville. It was the site of my first half marathon, The Hard Rock Half Marathon in November 2012 and I am thrilled to be running there again.
The Women’s Running Half Marathon Nashville is billed as the Ultimate Girls Weekend and is loaded with activities and fun for you and several thousand of your closest girlfriends. There are races at 2 distances – the 5K and the Half Marathon and there is a prolonged time limit (4 hours for the half) to make the races walker friendly if you are just not up to running all 13 miles.
The weekend starts off with the Health & Fitness Expotique where you can shop health and fitness gear catered completely to women. You will also get to pick up your race materials and purchase race keepsakes. The races are held on scenic courses throughout the city of your choice. Nashville starts and finishes at the Country Music Hall of Fame and has some stunning views of the city and the Tennessee River. When you cross the finish line, you will receive your finisher’s medal with an exclusive charm (isn’t is fabulous?) and celebrate at the finish line festival which features a Sweet Retreat, Freshen Up Lounge and Champagne toast. Super fun right?
If you have been reading my blog recently, you know that I have been (sort of) following my Diva Half Marathon Training Plan. It has been up and down since I started it, but I have been making at least a little bit of progress. But keeping in mind that this race is just 3 weeks after my first half of the season, the Divas Half in Peachtree City, GA, I am tweaking the plan a little bit. I am still working my way through FocusT25 (I am starting Beta this week) as well as my running. So here is what I have in mind to get ready for the Nashville race:
The weekend is going to be fabulous and fit for a diva (like myself). You can still register for the event through September 21st so be sure to sign up and join me in Nashville. If you sign up for the half marathon event, you can receive $10 off when using the code WRSHEATHER. And let me know if you are going and we can have a meet up!
