Hello divas! I hope that you are having a fabulous week so far. Mine has been pretty good with a more seasonal weather pattern here in Tennessee. Thus I have been able to get my afternoon runs in without all the heat and humidity. But with the weather warming up here in the next couple of weeks, the summer season is about to kick off. Which means it’s almost time for all those fun summer cookouts, pool parties, picnics and tailgating. Not to mention the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend. So if you are needing something EASY to take with you to all these events, this post is for you! If you are a regular reader, you know I have a serious sweet tooth (see my lightened derby pie, skinny chocolate peanut butter pie and key lime cupcakes). So to get the summer season started off right, I’m sharing a new easy healthy recipe today – my skinny banana split trifle.
I absolutely love this particular dessert recipe. Trifles are super easy to make and are perfect for your next party or barbecue. I also love ice cream in the summer, particularly banana splits. This skinny banana split trifle combines the two for one, delicious and not to bad for you treat.
You begin this recipe by taking a box of angel food cake mix and prepare it as per the directions on the box. While it is baking and cooling, you prepare the rest of the ingredients by cutting up all the fruit. Once the cake is cool, you simple combine all the ingredients into your trifle dish. You layer the cake, fruit, greek yogurt twice then top it with the whipped topping, chocolate sauce and cherries. It’s that simple.
