Disclosure: I am a brand ambassador for Swirlgear but received no compensation for this review. As always, the opinions stated are my own.
Hello divas and happy Wednesday! It is the middle of the week and I hope yours is going well so far. Typically on Wednesdays, I share a post related to workouts, running and exercise. Today is a very special Workout Wednesday here at Divas Run for Bling because I am reviewing the new Fall/Winter 2014 line of Swirlgear.
I have been a brand ambassador for Swirlgear since last fall. I absolutely love their shirts. They are fun, colorful and perfect for everything from running and workouts to just hanging out with friends. I love that Swirlgear is a small business that is run by women and that the clothing is designed by women for women. And not just elite athletes (though elites would love the clothing as well) but for the normal, everyday women who are still in the middle of their health and fitness journey.
We were informed back in the spring that the new line of Swirlgear would be released this summer and that we could begin pre-ordering pieces. So of course, over the past few months, I pre-ordered tanks, cap sleeves and capris. I plan on adding a couple of the long sleeves and running tights as the weather starts to cool off this fall. Last Friday, my package arrived and it was like Christmas in August.
Now that I have had a few days to try out my new pieces, I want to share my thoughts with all my readers. So the first fabulous thing about the new line is the addition of tanks. I am soooo glad that this was part of the line because it gets really hot here in Tennessee and I was in need of some tank tops. The tanks come in 2 different styles – the built-in bra version and the singlet style.
The built-in bra tank comes in three colors – Endurance Green (wearing above), a solid Marine Corps Red and Berry Good Run which is swirly trimmed in purple. These tanks are form fitting so they are easy to work out in. I have a larger bust so wearing it without an additional sports bra is not an option for me. The tanks are long so that they won’t ride up while you are working out and they have a fabulous side pocket that is big enough for your keys, id, etc. I really like these (I got all three colors) because they work for any workout I decide to do.
The other version of the tank is the tank with back ruching singlet style tank. This tank comes in the solid Berry Good Run, solid Endurance Green and my favorite, the all over spray dye (seen above). These tanks are really great for running because it gives you the freedom to move. I also like that they are looser because that means I can pair them with a pair of leggings and run errands with no fuss. They also have the groovy new pocket to stash small item in and are longer as well. The fabric for these is super soft and features features Ice Cool® technology that draws heat away from the body. The only drawback to this tank is that it does run large. I am typically between a small and medium so I bought mine the size smaller (a small) and it is perfect. But I have heard from other Swirlgear peeps that they ordered true to size and their tops were way too big. So be sure to order a size down in this top.
Next up is the cap sleeve tops. These tops are very similar to the short sleeve tops of the previous lines. They come in three new colors – solid Endurance Green, Marine Corps Red swirly top (looks a little camo which is fun) and the Berry Good Run (shown above). They are longer like the tanks and also have the added zipper pockets on the side. These shirts are fabulous for both working out and wearing out and about (or on casual Friday which I have been known to do).
My favorite item in the new line is the capris – specifically the all over spray dye capris (seen above). I have big thighs which sometimes leads to chafing so I usually wear capris or compression shorts anytime I run. I was super excited when I found out that there would be capris in this line. I tried them out on Saturday for my long run and LOVE THEM. They are fitted capris and bought a size smaller than normal (a small instead of a medium) because I prefer tighter capris and pants when I run. I typically wear a size 8 in pants and the small fits just fine for me.The only drawback is that I am short (5’1″) so they come halfway down my calves. But that is a small price to pay to be comfy and look fabulous while I’m getting my mileage in.
I have yet to purchase the long sleeve tops or the running tights so look for a review of them as the weather starts to cool off. I just have to say that I LOVE this new line. I bought my tops and capris a size smaller than normal as I am trying to lose weight and they all fit just fine. Each new piece has zipper pockets to help store the items you need as you are working out and each piece also has reflecting logos and fabric that will help you be seen in the dark. And best new yet is that Swirlgear now comes in sizes XS-XL so more of you can experience the line.
