It’s Monday which means it is time for another Weekly Report here at Divas Run for Bling. This is a time to share the events of last week and set some goals for the upcoming week. This week was full of ups and downs. There were lessons learned along the way and I am hoping that the coming weeks will be much better. Here is a summary of what happened this week:
Workouts: My workouts went fairly well this week. I ended up with 12 miles of running which is better than it has been. However, I did not not get in any cross training or strength training this week. This was not too bad considering I had a race on Saturday.
Scenic City Half Marathon: I was so excited to be running the Scenic City Half Marathon here in Chattanooga on Saturday. It was my first half marathon since my injury last summer. It did not go well. I ended up with my very first DNF (did not finish) after doing 8.5 miles. There were a lot of issues both with the race and with me and my training and it just didn’t happen the way I had planned. But I did learn some important lessons during the race. I will be doing a full recap tomorrow here on the blog.
Goals for this week:
- Running. After my race experience, I realize that I need to amp up my training over the next month before my next half – the GA Publix Half Marathon in Atlanta. I am hoping to run 19 miles this week – including a 10 mile long run.
- Strength training. I plan to do at least 2 days of strength training workouts to help me get stronger before the next race.
- Diet. I have had a rough couple of weeks diet wise as well. I am hoping to get back on track with the healthy eating.
