Is anyone besides me OBSESSED with the Winter Olympics in Sochi? I have been glued to the TV every night watching prime time coverage of events that I have already seen in their entirety via live streaming earlier in the day. Yeah. I’m THAT person. And the sad part is that it’s not just my fave events. I have found myself addicted to curling, cross country skiing and, yes, the luge. For someone who has lived her entire life in the south where we don’t have a whole lot of ice rinks or the white stuff, I am enthralled with the winter sports.
Speaking of the elusive white stuff, I am chilling at home today (watching the Olympics of course) thanks to another snow day. It’s pretty exciting to have more snow here in Tennessee as we just don’t see it that often. And I am already home so I don’t have to deal with 5 hours of traffic in snow and ice, making my day off much more enjoyable.
As you probably already know, I am trying to train for a few races coming up over the next few months. Sitting on the couch all day in front of the tv is probably not a good thing to accomplish my goals. I am hoping to go running later today if it clears up enough to do so and not slip on icy roads. But in the meantime I have come up with a fun Winter Olympic Inspired Circuit Training Workout to keep me active while it’s snowing outside.
The workout takes between 15 & 20 minutes one time through. You can do it twice for a good 30 minute sweat. I do the Lunge Bicep Curls, Kettlebell Swings, Side Squats, Pistol Squats and Russian Twists with my 7lb. kettlebells. You can do these with regular weights or no weights at all as well.
I would love to hear from all of you! Have you been watching the Winter Olympics in Sochi? What is your favorite Winter Olympic sport?
