Hello divas! I hope your week has gotten off to a great start so far. It is getting hot here in Tennessee which means that there is a lot of opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy the great outdoors. But with the heat also comes the sun.
Summer brings a lot of fun activities spent outside of the house. But when you spend a lot of time outdoors, you also run the risk of damage to your skin due to the sun and the UV rays. Your skin can really take a beating while being active, spending time at the beach or something as simple as chilling in your back yard.
So today I am sharing some healthy living tips to help you survive the summer and have healthy summer skin.
Protect. The first obvious tip is to wear sunscreen EVERY DAY. Even on those days where the sun in hiding behind the clouds. The UV rays can be just as dangerous on these days as on days with no clouds in the sky and the brightly shining sun. Make sure your sunscreen has a high enough SPF to truly protect you from the rays. And make sure you remember your lip balm. Your lips are just as important as the rest of your body so they need protected too.
Exfoliate and Moisturize. The summer can cause your skin to dry out so it is important to exfoliate at least once a week to get rid of any dry and damaged skin, leaving your skin glowing. Also be sure to moisturize daily as well to keep your skin from tightening up and looking healthy and radiant.
Simplify makeup routine. You don’t need a full makeup routine most days in the summer. I know here in Tennessee, I just sweat it off by lunchtime anyway. So I go with a more lightweight and natural look in the summer. I even combine several steps and just go with a CC cream most days, combining moisturizing, SPF and light concealer/foundation. A bonus tip is to splash come cold water on your face before you apply your makeup. This shrinks your pores and keeps the makeup from settling in them a bit.
Eat Right & Hydrate. There are ways that you can keep your skin looking fabulous in the summer through your diet as well. Eating protein helps nourish and repair while eating antioxidants such as leafy greens & blueberries will stimulate complexion’s collagen growth. As with all good health tips, stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. This will help keep some toxins out of your body and your skin from drying out.
Sleep. Word of advice: less sleep = more stress hormones. These hormones slow collagen growth, making your skin look looking tired or worn.
