Hello divas and happy Friday! Another week is almost in the books and another weekend is upon us. I hope that you have some fabulous plans this weekend. Mine are to relax, finish unpacking and begin preparing for Thanksgiving and the start of the Christmas season.
It is Friday which means that it is time for another edition of 5 Things Friday here at Divas Run for Bling. This is a time when I share 5 things each week and link up with my blogging peeps at Eat Pray Run DC, Mar on the Run and You Signed Up for What. This week’s theme is all about one of my favorite subjects, the foods of fall. So today I am sharing my five favorite foods of the season.
Pumpkin. It doesn’t matter what it is, if there is pumpkin in it, I will probably love it. Some of my favorite recipes include overnight crockpot pumpkin oatmeal, skinny no bake pumpkin pie and vegan pumpkin chocolate chip bread.
Chili. There is nothing on a cold day than sitting down with a hot bowl of chili. It is a sure way to keep you warm and toasty when it is not so much so outside. Try my crockpot veggie quinoa chili or my drunk deer chili recipes to warm you up.
Apples. I always look forward to October because I know that it is apple season here in Tennessee. And I love eating apples almost as much as pumpkin. Apple pies, jelly, bread and cake are just some of my favorites. For a great Thanksgiving side dish, check out my whiskey honey apple and sweet potato bake.
Brunswick stew. Growing up, I loved when the weather got colder and my grandmother would fix a big pot of brunswick stew. Nowadays, I make a smaller batch in the crockpot and use deer or turkey as a substitution to beef to skinny it up.
Hot chocolate. Lastly, when it gets cold, I like to reach for a mug of hot chocolate. I prefer dark hot chocolate. It is so yummy and a great way to warm up when the temperature drops. Try adding some peppermint to your hot chocolate for a holiday treat.
