Hello divas! I hope that your week has gotten off to a good start. I had a decent week so far. Work isn’t too stressful, I started a new fitness program which is going pretty well so far and the weather is pretty good (though extremely hot so I am staying indoors a lot).
But one thing I am also trying to focus on is to become more of a morning person in order to get some of my workouts in BEFORE the day gets too hot and humid. This is especially true for my runs. And let me tell you it is not easy because I really like to sleep. In fact, my biggest problem is that I love to sleep, sometimes a bit too much.
To combat this, I have been trying to focus on some healthy habits. So today I want to share some healthy living tips for busy people and some morning habits that will help you feel energized all day long.
Get Plenty of Sleep. Obviously, the first place to start to combat a lack of energy is to ensure you are getting enough sleep. It is not just the number of hours of sleep you get either. You also need some quality sleep as well. So make sure you try to wind down a while before bed. Block out light and noise so you can fall asleep. And set the alarm so that you will wake up in plenty of time to get up and going.
Wake Up the Same Time Every Day. Speaking of alarms, get into a routine where you wake up the same time every day. This helps your body wake up and want to get started with your day.
Light It Up. As soon as that alarm goes off, do something to let some light in. If it is light out, open the curtains. Turn on the lamp or overhead light. Adding light helps wake your body up and can help prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep.
Sweat It Out. Once you are out of bed, it is a good idea to get moving. Whether it is just walking around the house of a full-blown workout, movement will help start your metabolism in the mornings and feel more energized as the day progresses. Yoga is really good for a morning workout as it stretches the muscles that may have tightened up overnight.
Drink Water and Eat Breakfast. After waking up and moving around, it is important to have a healthy breakfast and get hydrated. Drink a full glass of water to make sure that you are hydrated. Prepare a breakfast that will give you enough energy to get through the morning. This will get your metabolism up and running and you will good to go all day long. I love having my Shakeology for breakfast as it is a fantastic way to get over 70 vitamins and minerals that I need to keep me going throughout the day as well as protein to keep me full all morning long. I even add a scoop on Shakeology Focused Energy Boost for an added “umph.”
