Hello divas! I hope that have had a fantastic week so far. Mine has been pretty good. I am trucking along in my nutrition and fitness plan and feel great. I just have to get through the week lol.
I can’t believe that January is almost over and February is just around the corner. That also means that Valentine’s Day is also just ahead. I hope you have some fun plans for your significant other planned. I know I am working on plans myself.
But with a holiday that seems to revolve around candy and eating out, it can sometimes be hard to stay healthy on Valentine’s Day. So today I am sharing 5 healthy living tips for a healthier Valentine’s Day.
Do something active. The first tip is to do something active this Valentine’s Day. This year the big day falls on a Saturday so many people are off of work. Why not do something together during the day time hours that will get your blood pumping? Need some idea? Check out my date ideas for fitness buffs.
Eat in. While many people choose to eat out on Valentine’s Day, it may be a bit healthier to stay in and have a nice quiet dinner at home. You will be able to portion control your food better and it is easier to opt for healthier options. Skip the candy. This one is hard for me, but I told the hubby to skip the candy this year. The issue isn’t necessarily the candy itself – it is the fact that the candy gets left all over the house and anytime the muchies hit, I will go for the candy before something healthier like a piece of fruit or some carrot sticks.
Splurge, not gorge. I do realize that this is a holiday, however. And I have a serious weakness for anything red velvet so it is okay to splurge a little bit. Just be sure not to gorge. A sweet red velvet cupcake or mini cake from my hubby is great, eating 6 cupcakes is not.
Eat smart when eating out. If you do decide to do the eating out thing, be sure to eat smart. Do things like skip the bread (hard I know!), opt for veggies instead of fries, share with your significant other (since restaurant portions are so big) or take half your entree home with you. This will allow you to enjoy date night without the extra fat and calories you will have to deal with later.
