Hello divas and welcome to Friday! I hope that this week has been fabulous and you have some fun plans ahead for the weekend. It’s Friday here at Divas Run for Bling which means it’s time for another edition of 5 things Friday where I share 5 things and link up with the ladies at Eat Pray Run DC, Mar on the Run and You Signed Up for What. This year is sort of a year in flux for me. I plan on starting IVF later this summer so I have only planned and signed up for my spring races as of yet. But it is going to be a fabulous spring season I think so I thought it would be fun to share my 5 races to run in spring 2015.
Atlanta Hawks Fast Break 5K. The first race on the docket isn’t really in spring. In fact, it is next Saturday. I am such a big Atlanta sports fan that I sign up for any race involving my favorite teams. The Fast Break 5K is the newest race in Atlanta, this one with a basketball Atlanta Hawks theme. There is a medal, a shirt, mascot and cheerleaders and a basketball skills challenge at the finish. And my hubby is doing it with me so that’s fun.
Berry College Half Marathon. I am making a return to my alma mater to run the Berry College Half Marathon once again. It’s great that I live close enough to be able to “go home” and run a race on this absolutely gorgeous campus. And my bestie since college is running it with me so that makes this year doubly fun (and by running it with me, I mean he will meet me at the finish line as he will probably finish about 2 hours ahead of me!)
Covenant Health Knoxville Half Marathon. Keeping with my obsession with sports, I am running the Covenant Health Knoxville Half Marathon in Knoxville, GA just one day after the Berry Half. Yep – 2 halfs in 2 days. Crazy I know. One thing about growing up in the south is that I am a HUGE SEC and Georgia football fan (Go Dawgs!). While this particular race is in the home of the Tennessee Vols, it is still super fun because the finish is at the 50 yard link of their football stadium.
Kentucky Derby Half Marathon. The Kentucky Derby Half Marathon is my big race of the spring that I am most excited about. It will be my 6th state that I have run a half in and part of the race is in Churchill Downs which I am super excited about. The hubby and I are making it a mini-vacation and will do some exploring in Louisville while we are there.
The Color Run. Lastly, is another 5K and repeat from last year. I am lucky enough to be working with The Color Run again this year and will run the Atlanta race in early April with my bestie and little sister. We had so much fun last year and can’t wait to see what this year has in store (including a medal and glitter!). If you would like to join me in Atlanta or run The Color Run in any of the other cities, you can use the code MLC143657 to receive $5 off your registration.
