Hello divas and happy Friday!!!!! The weekend is almost here and I, for one am thrilled. I get to see some family this weekend and go wedding dress shopping for my younger sister. Oh and there is a long run in the cards as well.
It’s Friday here at Divas Run for Bling which means it is time for another edition of 5 Things Friday. I typically share 5 things each week and link up with Mar On the Run, You Signed Up for What and Eat Pray Run DC in their Friday Five link-up. Since it is the beginning of my favorite month, I thought that today I would share my 5 Reasons to Love October with all of you.
Pumpkin everything. I LOVE pumpkin. End of story. I am always thrilled each year when fall gets close and all the pumpkin comes back. I also love-making healthy pumpkin recipes myself. Check out my Crockpot Pumpkin Oatmeal and my Gluten-Free Vegan Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread recipes and check back every Thursday in October for a new, healthy pumpkin recipe.
Halloween. Also in October is one of my fave holidays, Halloween. I just love the idea of playing dress up (I dress up the dog), eating tons of candy that is not good for you and paying money to get scared.
Think pink. Also in October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart as my grandmother survived breast cancer in the early 80s back when that didn’t necessarily always happen. And the official color, pink, is also my favorite color :). I always make my charitable donation each October and try to do the Race for the Cure if at all possible to show my support for the cause.
The TV and Movies. Two word: Hocus Pocus. This is quite possibly the best Halloween movie ever, though I also love watching the classics like the original Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. And October also sees the return of The Walking Dead on TV which is one of my fave shows to watch.
Oktoberfest. Lastly, where would October be without Oktoberfest. I personally am not of German descent, but my hubby’s family is so we have a soft spot for all things German – the beer, the pretzels and the music. We have several local breweries here in Chattanooga that serve traditional Oktoberfest beer and food all month-long and we also have a local Oktoberfest that I never miss.
