I have received information and a pair of Women’s Mizuno Wave Rider 21 Running Shoes from Mizuno for this post. The opinions stated are my own. This is a sponsored post.
Hello divas! I hope that your week has been going well. I just got back from my trip to Savannah for my last half marathon of the year so I am still in recovery mode lol. But it has been good so far.
Now that my fall racing season is over, it’s time to start looking ahead to what the spring season will hold. I know it seems like it is months away, but my first half marathon of the new year will be in early March so training will start in just a few weeks. And there are things that I can do now to get ready to run spring races.
Get fitted for running shoes. While it is important to have proper attire to run in, nothing is more important that a good pair of running shoes. After this fall season, my current pair is on its last breath and I was in the market for a new pair to start my spring training. Which is why I am so thrilled to be working with Mizuno to try out the newly released Wave Rider 21 Running Shoes.
Mizuno has redesigned their Wave technology for softer cushioning and an enhanced responsive feel. I loved how the shoe has Air Mesh Upper for superior feel, breathability, and comfort and a ventilation system that reduces heat and humidity build-up inside the shoe during performance. As someone who lives in the south and often runs in the heat and horrid humidity, this is a fantastic feature to keep my feet cool and dry.
When I started running in them, I love how lightweight and responsive the run actually was. In the past, some of my running shoes have been a little bit clunky and heavy. The Wave Rider 21s have a fit that moves with your feet and creates a smooth transition from heel to toe in every step. It also has a softer cushioning which I loved particularly on my longer runs when my feet hit the pavement over and over for a long period of time. I am loving the shoes as I start my training for the spring.
Start filling in your calendar. The next thing that needs to be done is to start filling in the calendar as to which races you plan to run. You will need to make sure that there is enough time to properly train for the races you want to do. A shorter race like a 5K or 10K will obviously not take as much time as say a half or full marathon. But if your first race is in February and it’s a half marathon, that training needs to be going on now. If it’s not till April, you have a little more time to prepare.
Select a training plan. I have talked on here before about the importance of a good training plan. Depending on your current level, this could be a longer or shorter plan. But it is important to have a plan in place otherwise you will not be prepared for the race you want to run. That could lead to injuries among other things.
Just get started. The last thing that you can do now to prepare for your spring races is to just get started. You can plan to your heart’s content but you are never going to be ready to run unless you start. So get your plan in place. Have a backup plan for your workouts when the weather gets icky (because it will in the winter months). Put on your favorite running clothing and your shoes (I will be wearing my Mizuno Wave Riders) and go for a run. You will be glad you did!
