Typically on Mondays, I do a quick post reviewing my workouts and blog happenings of the week and set goals for the upcoming week in my Weekly Report. Today I am going to do something a little different. I will be reviewing the happenings in my running life in 2013. I plan to unveil my goals for 2014 in a later post.
Races. I ran 2 half marathons, 2 10ks and a 5K this year. It wasn’t a very busy race year but it was productive. I was able to improve my overall fitness and learn to enjoy a good run. Here is the link to see my races in photos and links to full recaps.
6 racing medals. I love race bling and this year allowed me to earn some serious bling. The highlight was the four I earned by completing the Dumbo Double Dare and Coast to Coast Challenge at Disneyland in September.
Running Injury. I had my first major running injury this year. I had heard the talk about plantar fasciitis in the past and didn’t pay much attention to it – until it happened to me. This plagued my training all summer long and forced me to walk my way through the 10K and half marathon at Disneyland. I took a full month off of running after those races (it about drove me crazy!) to heal my foot and I pay much closer attention to what my body tells me now.
PR for 5K. After the month off of running, I came back slowly which allowed me to focus on the shorter distances. This paid off in December when I ran the Duck Dash 5K with my cousin and managed to set a new PR at that distance.
Divas Run for Bling. One of the biggest happenings this year was starting this blog. I have learned so much about myself through running that I wanted to share the lessons, the gear, the races and the training with the world. It has been a great success so far. Since starting in late October, I have had over 1500 unique visits to the site. I converted the blog from Blogger to a self-hosted WordPress site in early December and can’t wait to see what 2014 holds.
Ambassadorships. With the start of the blog and related social media accounts, I was blessed to be selected to three ambassadorships: Sweat Pink, Swirlgear and Feetures! Brand socks. I am so excited to be working with the Swirlgear and Feetures! brands and love their gear. I look forward to doing some reviews on them soon to share these fabulous products with you. I am also thrilled to be a part of the Sweat Pink movement which spreads the joy of living and healthy, active lifestyle.
