Hello divas! I hope that your week has been fabulous so far. Mine was pretty good. The weather hasn’t been super late November – early December like but it has been pleasant. Oh and I have been working on my Christmas decorations which has been fun.
I am waiting patiently for more winter-like weather to arrive here in the south. But I know that it has already arrived in many parts of the country. There are just so many fun things you can do in the winter.
So today I thought I would share some of my favorite winter fitness activities that I love to do to stay in shape over the cold months.
Running. This one is obvious for anyone that knows me. While I am a southerner who is not fond of the cold, I will bundle up with the best of them and get out and about running. Be sure to check out my Cold Weather Running Tips and What to Wear to Run in the Cold to help you survive the elements.
Ice Skating. I love ice skating. I can’t do tricks and I can’t skate backwards but I can go in circles and not fall down. Up until last year, this is not an activity I get to do often as there are no ice skating rinks close by. However, last year there was an outdoor rink by the river in downtown Chattanooga and it has returned this year. I can’t wait to try my moves out lol.
Indoor Fitness. While I love running outdoors, sometimes it is just way too cold to do large amounts of miles. So I head indoors to get my sweat on (see some indoor fitness activities for when the weather sucks). I may do some of my workouts at home or a complete fitness program such as the ones from Beachbody. I look forward to working on the new Hammer and Chisel program as cross-training for my running this winter.
Playing in the Snow. I live in Tennessee and we don’t get a whole lot of snow. But when we do, everything shuts down and I bundle up for some fun. I always have to have a snowball fight with the hubby (I always win) and maybe make some snow angels. I also sing “Do you want to build a snowman?” as, you guessed it, I build a snowman.
Sledding. We do occasionally get snow here in Chattanooga. We just rarely get a lot of it at once. But on those rare occasions we get several inches, I always try to go sledding.
